Examinations

Structural Inspections

CML initially brought STE4 competence in-house to verify that culvert structures were not compromised during jetting and clearance works.  This provided reassurance that culverts were being left in a safe condition during and after maintenance operations, also enabling us to bring any urgent safety defects to the attention of the asset engineer in real time.

Our engineers identified further opportunities to streamline the process for examining Hidden Critical Elements of railway structures, a process which was traditionally split between a contractor to undertake the enabling works, and independently appointed examiner.  By bringing examination competencies in-house, we were able to offer a turn-key solution and deliver HCE examinations more efficiently.

Our examination portfolio and capabilities has grown

In recent years our examination portfolio and capabilities has grown, now offering the services of STE2 and STE4, with the ability to examine most buildings and structures on the railway network.  All our examiners are trained and mentored through accredited training programmes, fully compliant with NR/SP/CTM/017.

In addition to providing examination services, our drainage team currently operate three 4×4 CCTV drainage survey rigs, supported by the latest JetVac recycling tankers, offering a turn-key drainage solution to Cleanse, Survey, Examine and Repair drainage assets.

  • Thanks for the stellar efforts of your team this week. It’s been a very impressive collective response - and rapid - to a problem that would take a far longer time to scale, plan and deliver were it setup as a conventional project.

Your team have done a brilliant job, working round the clock like this and pulling everything together in such short timescales is a challenging ask, the way the work has been managed and completed with no safety issues and minimal social complaints from the community has been impressive, as is the seamless nature all the teams have integrated.

    Thankyou for your support.
