Supporting British Science Week at Chapel Allerton Primary

As part of British Science Week, Claire Crossland and Ria Abbott visited Chapel Allerton Primary School to support their Science Fair – working with Year 5 pupils on a hands-on bridge-building challenge.

The goal wasn’t just to build something creative. It was to explore how things work.

Through the activity, pupils discovered how different shapes and materials affect strength – and how small design changes can make a big difference. Alongside the challenge, we introduced the world of construction and civil engineering in a simple, engaging way – showing how engineers work together to design and build the places we use every day.

What stood out most? The creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving on display.

At CML, we believe building the future starts with sparking curiosity early – helping young people see what’s possible and building confidence to explore it.
