Teletrac

Introduction from Teletrac Navman

‘Teletrac Navman is a connected mobility platform for industries that manage vehicle and equipment assets. CML and Teletrac Navman have been working together since June 2022 and following a successful technology trial, CML rolled out the telematics and camera solution across the full fleet.

With Teletrac Navman, information can easily be accessed across the workplace, with back-office software and driver apps capturing real time data which empowers teams to improve productivity and reduce downtime.

The implemented solution has helped CML promote sustainability by providing real-time data on fuel efficiency, effective route planning and carbon emission reductions. Teletrac Navman supports organisations now and in the future with their goals towards sustainability, alternative fuel transition and energy management’.  Oliver Falconer, Enterprise Account Manager, Teletrac Navman.

Since introducing Teletrac Navman CML is realising a number of safety improvements

Measuring Speed Incident Frequency (the average number of miles travelled per speed incident), month on month saw a 13% improvement in April compared to March, and a 22% improvement in June compared with May. Similarly, Harsh Braking Frequency, (the average number of miles travelled per harsh braking incident) saw an 18% improvement in April, and 6% improvement in June. We have reported a decline in some months which the Fleet team are taking steps to address, nonetheless, it’s an encouraging start and consistency is something we will aim for.

From a sustainability perspective, we are also seeing a reduction in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e), a standard unit for counting greenhouse gas emissions. By measuring idling hours, we can calculate the total fuel litres burned, and convert this into tCO2e. In January our tCO2e was 4.7 units, and in June we measured 1.4 units. Raising awareness of the positive environmental impact a simple act such as reducing idling time is something CML will promote.

In addition to the safety and environmental benefits introducing Teletrac Navman supports, CML is seeing a cost benefit. Spend per mile can be calculated using fuel card data, and we are noting a similar trend. Cost per mile reduced by 17% in April compared to March, and 43% in June compared to May.

Teletrac Navman has aided CML to become more streamlined by effectively and efficiently acting on key priorities such as fleet utilisation, job management, as well as offering advanced camera solutions to support accident prevention initiatives.  Driver scorecards shared directly with our drivers every week, is helping our people become safer drivers, so every individual has visibility of their own driving performance.  This data also helps us to target where additional driver training may be required to create a safer more efficient fleet.
