Construction underway for CML's new office and warehouse facility
Whilst CML have delivered numerous projects in the South West of England over our 38 year history, it was only in 2018 that we committed to leasing office and yard space in the region to support regional framework contracts and our growing local work force. Since then, our delivery capability in the region has gone from strength to strength, delivering earthworks, drainage, scour protection and rock cutting stabilisation projects, and more recently several packages of structural repairs to metallic and masonry railway bridges.
As building and civil engineering contractors, it’s often hard to find suitable premises that offer modern good quality offices combined with adjoining warehouse and yard space for materials, machinery and construction vehicles that are all essential to our in-house delivery model. Having spent the last 6 years operating in the region, CML have committed to invest in the development of a brand new facility located just off J23 of the M5 at Bridgwater in Somerset. The acquisition of the land at the Peninsula Business Park will allow CML to design and build new energy efficient unit, bespoke to the demands of our contracting operations for infrastructure clients in the South West. This new facility will replace existing office and plant yards at different locations across the county to provide a more modern and efficient base for our business.
As part of the development, CML have designed the site to accommodate an additional 2 units providing 22,000ft of commercial space which are now under construction and will available to rent from summer 2025.
The majority of Bridgwater sits on soft alluvial deposits either side of the River Parrett. To overcome the soft formation, the new commercial units will be supported on over 150 concrete piles, up to 25 metres deep.
