CML Inspires Future Talent at Leeds Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair

Successful Day at Leeds First Direct Arena

CML enjoyed a successful and engaging day at the Leeds Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair on Wednesday, held as part of National Apprenticeship Week.

With more than 12,000 visitors attending and over 100 exhibitors showcasing opportunities across a wide range of sectors, the event highlighted the growing enthusiasm and momentum surrounding apprenticeships as a career pathway.

Connecting With Future Talent

Throughout the day, the CML team spoke with hundreds of prospective apprentices, parents and careers advisors about opportunities within civil engineering and quantity surveying.

The high level of interest demonstrated the increasing awareness of apprenticeships as a valuable alternative to traditional academic routes — offering individuals the opportunity to earn while they learn and build long-term careers within the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Apprentices Supporting Future Apprentices

CML was proudly supported at the event by several of its current apprentices, who played a key role in sharing their first-hand experiences and career journeys.

Finn Edgeley, one of our first year Quantity Surveying Apprentices was interviewed by LARF recently and can be seen in the video opposite, hearing his story of being in the same position last year and meeting CML at LARF.

Lucy Fennell, CML’s Quantity Surveying Apprentice, also supported CECA Yorkshire & Humber as part of the Foundations Group, helping to promote the wider opportunities available within the civil engineering industry.

Having current apprentices present on the stand provided valuable insight for visitors considering their next steps and reinforced CML’s commitment to developing future talent.

A Team Effort

The event’s success was made possible thanks to the collective efforts of CML’s Apprentices, Training Team and wider staff members who contributed their time and expertise on the day.

CML remains committed to investing in apprenticeships and supporting the next generation of industry professionals.
