CML sponsor Gledhow Valley Green Fair

Our 'Drive a Robot' was a big hit!

Llamas, live music, street food, and… sewer pipes? Only at Gledhow Valley Green Fair!

Last Sunday, Gledhow Valley Road (just behind our head office in Leeds) closed to traffic and opened up to the local community for the Friends of Gledhow Valley Woods’ Green Fair. Over 100 stalls, hundreds of visitors, and a CML CCTV drainage van parked in the middle of it all.

We were proud to sponsor the event and the “De-Culverting of Gledhow Valley Beck” exhibition, and to bring along two crowd favourites:

  • Our CCTV drainage van, where over 300 kids (and more than a few “big kids”) got hands-on with real equipment, driving cameras through a culvert to explore the hidden world beneath their feet.
  • A giant suspension bridge jigsaw, which turned into a full-blown, timed family competition – turns out civil engineering is a lot more fun when there’s a stopwatch involved!

The questions kept coming all day, and it was brilliant to see so much genuine curiosity about what civil engineers actually do, because much of it happens underground, out of sight, until events like this bring it to life.

A huge thank you to our volunteers for giving up their Sunday to make it all happen, and to the Friends of Gledhow Valley Woods for organising such a fantastic community day.
