Successful Tandem Lift Operation
Over the Easter weekend, the CML Structures team successfully delivered the installation of the Ivy Lane footbridge for Network Rail, during a planned blockade on the Barnham to Bognor Regis line – marking a major milestone for the project.
The operation involved a carefully coordinated sequence of rail-based logistics and lifting activities. The highlight of the works was a complex tandem lift, where two Quattro Plant rail-mounted cranes worked in unison to safely and precisely position the main bridge span. The operation demanded detailed planning, precision execution, and close control at every stage.
In addition to the main span installation, the team also completed the placement of all associated trestles, landings, and staircases within the same possession. Despite real-time challenges on site, the team maintained full operational control and delivered the works safely and efficiently.
This successful delivery demonstrates the strength of collaboration across the supply chain and key stakeholders, ensuring the project was completed with minimal disruption to the operational railway.
A huge thank you goes to AW Group, Quattro Plant, Loca Construction, and the entire project team for their commitment, teamwork, and professionalism in delivering this complex rail operation.
