Latest Developments at St Andrews Road Bridge, Huddersfield

Works on the St Andrews Road Bridge project in Huddersfield are progressing well, with significant milestones achieved on both the East and West sides of the structure.

Earlier this year, Cummins’ Huddersfield site officially broke ground on the St. Andrews Road Bridge Project, a commitment to improving safety and site accessibility.

The project will run through to October 2026, construction will progress into the superstructure, internal finishes, and services, before moving into the final external works and bridge completion.

With St. Andrews Road running directly through the site, this project represents a significant investment in creating a safer, more efficient environment for all employees, visitors, and site operations.

East Side Progress

The team has made excellent progress with the bridge substructure works, including:

  • CFA piling now complete
  • Excavations completed
  • Concrete reinforcement installed
  • First concrete pour for the lift shaft base successfully completed

The second and final concrete pour for the lift shaft base took place on Friday 24th April, which marked another key milestone for this phase of the works.

West Side Progress

On the West side, works are also moving forward steadily with:

  • CFA piling concrete works underway
  • Excavations completed
  • Concrete reinforcement fixed and ready for the next stage

Looking Ahead

With piling and excavation activities now largely complete, the focus will continue to shift toward concrete pours and the ongoing development of the bridge substructure.

A great effort from everyone involved as the project continues to move forward safely and efficiently.
