CML (Construction Marine Ltd) are proud to sponsor The Martin Murray Think Fast Academy based in St Helens. The Academy offers high quality social support and development to the most hard-to-reach young people, realised through the discipline and ethos of boxing.
Dan Brigden and Glyn Thelwell from our Wigan office, recently spent the morning with Martin, whose titles include former WBA Interim Middleweight champion, former British and Commonwealth Middleweight champion and five times Challenger for a world title.
Dan said “Just by spending the morning with Martin and talking to him you realise just how passionate he is in helping young hard to reach people, trying to turn their lives around through this academy.”
Martin added, “This funding has specifically helped us to be able to run a programme for a cohort with the St. Helens Youth Offending team (YOT). This group of young lads were all first-time offenders and were referred to our programme in the hope that it will prevent them from committing further crime.
After a recent meeting with the YOT, we were told that there’s been a 0% reoffending rate with that particular cohort, which is unheard of for any short-term intervention. Future funding will help us to continue to deliver this programme and keep making a positive impact in these young people’s lives, as well as deterring them from crime.
Massive thanks to CML for their support and helping us create better futures for the young people of St. Helens.”
