Our structures team successfully completed the installation of a new footbridge at the weekend on the Victoria to Ramsgate Line located between Shortlands and Bromley South Stations on the outskirts of London for Network Rail’s Kent Route.
The dilapidated lattice girder footbridge spanning over four electrified running lines was replaced with new pre-cast concrete cill beams and a new TUM 400 deck with in-span steps helping to increase the headroom of the structure. Extensive repairs were also carried out to the masonry abutments, repointing areas of mortar loss, replacement of spalling bricks and stitch repairs to fractures.
A challenging site to deliver, wedged amongst a busy residential area, and extensive interface with engineering train movements during the possession, but needless to say the team completed all works on schedule. The new footbridge is planned to open first week in April. Thanks to everyone involved and all our supply chain, well done all.
