First project delivered under Southern Region Metallic Structures Framework

CML awarded Lot 6 - Metallic Structures

CML are pleased to announce they have been awarded Lot 6 – Metallic Structures in an innovative new 10-year partnership framework.

Southern Integrated Delivery (SID) has appointed 15 suppliers to deliver Buildings & Civils works for its Works Delivery team across the Southern region in Control Period 7 (CP7) and Control Period 8 (CP8).

The primary focus of the framework will be to deliver planned and reactive maintenance. By rationalising seven current frameworks into one and by awarding work directly rather than via mini-tender competitions, the new framework will provide regional consistency on how this work is managed, and will create long-term, value-driven relationships to enable sustainable growth and inward investment for local SMEs to help drive innovation and efficiency.

Each lot will include a minimum committed spend value for each partner, providing workbank security for supply chain partners to invest in people, plant, systems and innovation whilst removing costs associated with competitive tendering.

St Mildreds Road Overbridge

Our first project under the new Southern Metallic framework has been successfully delivered. A recent strike on St. Mildreds Rd Overbridge in London necessitated an immediate redesign of the collision protection beams. Due to the nature of the bridge strike and damage caused, the project had to be remitted and delivered in very short timescales to minimise risk to the operational railway.  During a 52-hour major road closure over one weekend, all necessary work, including surface preparation, painting, and the removal and reinstatement of the new CPB’s with the use of two road cranes was successfully completed. Despite several engineering challenges and unfavourable weather, the works were delivered on programme. An excellent demonstration of Network Rail, CML, HRS Rail, and Connect TM working in collaboration.
